Additional Property Attributes

A Phase I ESA site inspection was conducted on August 9, 2017. No new RECs were recognized from what were previously identified during the Phase I ESA conducted on October 29, 2008. A Phase II ESA was conducted on January 8, 2009 RECs identified during the Phase I ESA conducted on October 29, 2008. The subject property meets the definition of a "facility" based upon the detection of the following compounds in soil above the Generic Residential Cleanup Criteria: n-butylbenzene, sec-butylbenzene, naphthalene, 1,2,4-TMB, 1,3,5-TMB, xylenes, and benzo(a)pyrene. A Baseline Environmental Assessment will be prepared based on the facility designation from previous Phase II ESA.

Former Use: The site was constructed beginning in 1956 by Kirsch Company, which manufactured hardware for drapery. The primary manufacturing operations were located in the northwestern portion of the building. Steel coils were received and stamped into component parts or slit for a curtain rod assembly process. Steel was painted or electroplated using several processes (roll coat process, paint booths, plating lines, phosphating lines) depending upon the part and type of desired finish. Solvents, metal solutions, caustics and oils were extensively used in this area of the building. The remainder of the building was primarily utilized for assembly, packaging, warehousing and shipping. Kirsch operations ceased in 2000. Kirsch Industrial Park, LLC acquired the property on December 30, 2008.
