Additional Property Attributes

Interview with the past property owner could not be performed because the owner was not available. At the time of site reconnaisance, the City had condemned the buildings on the property and completed demolition of the building. The past owner was the Mulk Corporation and the site was owned by a bank during the investigation. Information regarding the content of the demolished building was not available. At present, the site is a vacant vegetated lot.

Former Use: The property is a vacant vegetated lot located on the south side of the intersection of North 4th Street and East State Street. For the last 30 plus years, the subject property was occupied by a motel and a parking area. The property was previously owned by the Mulk Corporation, which operated the motel for a long-term rooming and housing purposes. According to the City Attorney, the City of Rockford condemned the subject property because the building was cited for several building code violations. Because the building was dangereous and unsafe, it was demolished in 2007. The Business Loan Center LLC, the current owner, foreclosed the subject property on November 2007.
