Additional Property Attributes

Phase I findings from May 2012 indicated the potential presence of six closed in place USTs. Previous Phase II ESA results indicated petroleum compounds in soils above MDNR DTLs. Phase II ESA groundwater results indicated petroleum and lead concentrations greater than MDNR DTLs. A Ground Penetrating Radar survey and exploratory excavation was completed at the site to locate USTs identified on historic Sanborn maps. Three USTs and associated product piping were removed from the site; approximately 163 tons of petroleum contaminated soil in excess of the MDNR MRBCA RBTLs was excavated and disposed of as a special waste. Overexcavation of soil in the vicinity of the USTs was completed to 10 feet below ground surface. The eight confirmatory samples collected indicated that no detected concentrations were above the MRBCA Storage Tanks residential DTLs, with exception of arsenic (concentrations were below regional background concentrations). No bedrock or groundwater was encountered in the UST excavation. A draft UST Closure Report was submitted to the City on September 28, 2012. The MDNR issued a No Further Action for the site on March 7, 2013.

Former Use: The property is currently a vegetated lot with no structures present. The site is an MDNR LUST/UST site known as AC Jenkins. The predominant site uses from circa 1940 until 2000 has included gasoline service stations, auto service, and collision repair.
