Additional Property Attributes

Note that this site was closed under the MCP (10/22/2002) with an AUL. Additional assessment performed under this cooperative agreement was conducted to determine what cleanup work would be needed to enable removal or modification of the AUL to facilitate redevelopment of the property.

Former Use: This property is a former gas station (now demolished) located between downtown Chicopee and I-391. This vicinity was identified in the recent EPA-funded brownfields Area-Wide Plan as a key gateway to downtown Chicopee where redevelopment potential is high. The site has reached closure in the state VCP but an institutional control (AUL) is in place that prohibits most forms of significant redevelopment. The current owner is a private entity that is not responsible for past contamination of the site.
