Additional Property Attributes

The Absentee Shawnee Tribe requested that DEQ perform a phase II on this property. Asbestos was found in the slab caulk on the exterior of the 1st and 2nd floor perimeter, fire doors were found on the 1st and 2nd floor laundry room/storage, popcorn ceiling texture was found in all rooms on the ceiling and debris on carpet and furniture, drywall joint compound and texture in all rooms, and texture on soffit of 1st and 2nd floor. The tribe hopes to redevelop this property into a tribally owned convenience store. Former Use: The subject property is a 4.4 acre tract of land that was used as commercial for a 10,000 sq ft 30 room motel built in 1970 and a former Texaco station that has been removed in years past. The surrounding acreage is used for agricultural purposes. The motel building was demolished during the asbestos abatement as a wet demolition. The motel is part of a 199 acre tract of agricultural land. Future redevelopment plans for the land involve building a tribal trading post and truck stop. In 1996, six underground storage tanks were removed from the property as well as contaminated soil.
