Additional Property Attributes

A local land trust has expressed interest in the site for recreational and conservation purposes.

Former Use: Site has two non-contiguous parcels, 497 North Heath Road and 394 North Heath Road. 394 North Heath Road is 10 acres in size with one structure and a great amount of debris on site (such as building materials, furniture, tires, paint cans and other materials) as well as forest land. 497 North Heath Road is 3.1 acres with four structures and also a substantial amount of debris, including 55 gallon drums, scrap metal, building materials and auto parts. Historic use of the site was as predominantly residential dating back to the 1890s and 1940s, respectively. A potential environmental concern is that the site is in the area of an old pyrite mine from the 1950s. Since its closure, the mine has been filled with groundwater, which overflows and discharges into a nearby brook. However, based data collected from past studies, it is unlikely that the effluent has significantly impacted the site. A Phase II subsurface investigation is recommended.
