MRL Park has already seen completion of the last leg of the Missoula-Hamilton bike/pedestrian trail and opening of a "bark park" in this park-impoverished part of town. The balance of the park is scheduled to open in Spring 2019. Former Use: The target property is located in a former industrial area near the center of Missoula, Montana, and is approximately 3.85 acres. The property is predominantly vacant ground, with one mobile office trailer located onsite. The property is bounded by a rail line owned by MRL to the east, commercial property to the north and south, and a mix of commercial and residential properties to the west (Figure 2). The site sits astride the last incomplete segment of the Missoula-to-Hamilton bike trail. The site was previously used by Roscoe Steel in manufacturing and by Montana Rail Link as a repair facility. Remedial actions for identified soil contamination was taken by current/previous owners. The $133,435 Phase II assessment (started in 10/19/2019) was designed incollaboration with MDEQ to both delineate the scope of any issues and lead directly to cleanup planning. The Phase II took the form of a Draft Voluntary Cleanup Plan - Environmental Assessment, which is currently under review by MDEQ, and which will lead to cleanup and delisting from the State Superfund list. After MTDEQ completes thier reivew of the VCP-EA, a completion date will be added for the assessment.
