Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The subject property consists of a single parcel in the City of Lamar with an address of 113 E. Olive Street and owned by Allen Anderson. The subject property measures approximately 0.5 acre and is occupied by a 6,000 square foot masonry building built in 1947. The subject property is bounded by E. Olive Street to the south, S. 4th Street to the east, paved parking to the north and commercial properties to the west. Historical references dating back to 1893 indicate the subject has been developed for commercial purposes. A structure in the southwest portion of the property had been used as a storage warehouse from at least 1893 through the 1940s; additional uses included agricultural implement storage, a kindergarten, bicycle and sewing machine warehouse, and plumbing business. The current building on the southwest portion of the subject property was constructed in 1947 at the of the former warehouse structure which was removed. This new building was used for automotive sales and service through the 1950s and then for tire sales and automotive service through the 1990s. The building has subsequently been occupied by a restaurant. Additional occupants include Andersons Realty and 5 Eagles Inc during the 2000s. The eastern portion of the subject property was vacant through the 1920s when a gas station was built on the corner of E. Olive and S. 4th Street. The gas station operated at this until the early 1980s and had at least two associated gasoline storage tanks. The gas station building was demolished, and the eastern portion of the property was used as storage and parking for the tire sales and automotive service business. This part of the subject property remained vacant after the restaurant moved into the building on the west side of the property. The status of underground petroleum storage tanks associated with the former gas station is unknown. Patches in the paved area on the east side of the subject property indicate the of the former gas station and pump islands.
