Additional Property Attributes

EPA conducted a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment at the property and identified the presence of Recognized Environmental Condition (RECs) that may be impeding the redevelopment of the property, including the presence of petroleum impacted groundwater and soil from previous Site activities. The RECs will be evaluated further during a Phase II Environmental Assessment.

Former Use: The Site consists of 1.87 acres containing over two contiguous parcels along the Wicomico River, containing several warehouse buildings encompassing over 10,200 SF. The property once was the location for a tank farm with several USTs and ASTs containing petroleum products. The Site was subject to an EPA Removal Action in the late 1990's with a limited soil removal, liner installation, and bulkhead protection. A later action involved the install of a groundwater interceptor trench and oil extraction system. The a oil extraction system in no longer in use and has been vandalized. The Site is currently being considered for purchasing by the City of Salisbury for redevelopment or repurposing into a community park.
