Additional Property Attributes

Former wood pole treating (and drying and storing the treated poles) may have contaminated site soils. Reportedly, a gooey substance, possibly creosote, was encountered at approximately 13 feet bgs during a water line repair near the former wood pole treating building. An AST/vault formerly used to store creosote is present at the site. It is possible that wood treating products were released to surrounding soils from this feature. Stained soils are present at the Accelerated Construction and Excavating, LLC-leased yard. Truck engines, possibly containing engine oil, were noted as being stored on the ground surface. Vehicles stored at a former towing and vehicle impoundment yard may have resulted in releases of waste oil, lubricants, antifreeze, and other automotive related fluids to adjacent soils. The City of Plummer expressed concern that railroad beds on and near the site may have been constructed from mine tailings. Mine tailings often contain higher than natural concentrations of heavy metals. Both the City of Plummer and CDA Tribe are interested in potential redevelopment of the site. Future possible plans for the site that have been considered include housing manufacturing (e.g., tiny homes); an RV park; a business park/business incubator; artisans/craftspeople spaces (e.g., metalworking); a visitor's center; and a trail that would connect a bike trail to the south with the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes to the north.
