Additional Property Attributes

Prior to 1965 the site was a gas station. Once the city owned the property it was used as a Public Works Building, then an Electric Shop and finally was used as a Mechanic Shop. One L-shaped 11,300 square-foot building is on-site in a useable condition. Because the site was a gas station prior to 1965 it is not known if the tanks were removed or may still be present. The city would like to sell the property for commercial use since it is prime land on Route 66 at the edge of town. Various funding sources are being explored such as grants and use of some type of in-kind service. Possible PCB contamination associated with the historical and current on-site storage of transformers is considered a REC. Potential petroleum impact to soil and groundwater from the former on-site gas station and the possible presence of an underground storage tank is considered a REC. Potential petroleum and solvent impact to the subsurface due to historical auto repair activities at the site is considered a REC.
