Additional Property Attributes

The property is developed with a three-story commercial building constructed in 1906. It was used as a power substation and street car transfer station from 1906 until the 1950s, and as a car parts/towing/repair business in the 1980s. It is owned by the City of St. Louis' Land Reutilization Authority.

The Phase II ESA confirmed the presence of asbestos-containing materials and lead-based paint inside the building. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons were found in one surface soil sample at concentrations exceeding the 2006 Missouri Risk-Based Corrective Action guidance document's default target levels. The Land Reutilization Authority plans to sell the property to a private developer for commercial use.

The site has enrolled in the Missouri Brownfields/Voluntary Cleanup Program for oversight of cleanup of the property.
