Additional Property Attributes

MFA developed the site in 1950 with grain elevators and silos for the purpose of storing corn grains. The site was idled in 1982 and has remained unused. The applicant, Missouri State University, is requesting a Phase I for only the western portion of the site. This includes 3 multi-silo structures referred to as A-House, B-House, and C-House, which consist of 22, 14, and 42 silos, respectively. Silos range from 100-114ft in height and 20-22ft in diameter. A rail corridor borders the northern perimeter of the site.

Multiple RECs were found related to historical agricultural and grain storage operations as well as adjacent site use as a rail corridor. Suspect ACM and LBP was observed throughout the site.

The investigation did not identify any contaminants, particularly pesticides, in soil or groundwater above MRBCA 2006 residential target levels. Levels of lead were detected at depth. However, they were at depths of greater than 10 feet, and would only constitute a risk if excavations to that depth take place. ACM and LBP was confirmed to be present throughout the building interior. It is recommended that ACM and LBP be properly abated prior to site redevelopment.

No RECs were identified in the Phase I update. Both ACM and LBP remained as a concern throughout the site structures.
