Additional Property Attributes

The former Lorden Storage Warehouse was constructed between 1917 and 1918 and currently stands within the limits of Rockford's Davis Park. Historically, the buildings has been used for knitting operations and general storage. The City acquired the the building in 1992 as part of the development of the surrounding Davis Park. The building was transformed into a venue to support park events and for general storage. With redevelopment of several surrounding properties, the onsite structure became obsolete and limited the planned expansion of the immediately adjacent Davis Park Festival Grounds along the Rock River. Using the City's Community Development Redevelopment Funds, the onsite structure was demolished and the resulting greenspace incorporated into Davis Park. Davis Park is set to receive a significant makeover in the near future to further attract special events and venues.
