Additional Property Attributes

U.S. EPA tasked START under contract 68-HE-0519-D0005, Task Order Line Item No. F0107-0001DA103 to support the City of Chicago, Department of Assets, Information and Services (AIS) with a Targeted Brownfields Assessment. The City of Chicago, AIS has identified this property as part of the INVEST South/West corridor, part of an environmental justice community. The environmental assessment findings will be used to determine how to proceed in the redevelopment of the property.
During a records review, AIS identified historical uses of the Site:
Sanborn map: Plumbing supplies and storage, metal fabrication shop.
A review of adjacent and offsite properties within 250 feet identified the following:
North Adjacent: EDR lists in Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) database drums requiring disposal after a fire collapsed the wall and roof onto potentially flammable containers. Additional listing for paint cans dumped in front of the building.
East Adjacent: Sanborn maps depict Beverage Facility & Auto Truck Garage with gasoline tank present. EDR Listing for one 1,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tank (UST).
West Adjacent: EDR listing in CDPH database associated with an air pollution permit for a boiler.
North: 50 feet, Sanborn maps depict three aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) possibly containing gasoline, benzene, and/or turpentine.
East: 70 feet, Sanborn maps depict an auto garage.
