Additional Property Attributes

Located in a mixed industrial, commercial, and residential area of North Tazewell, Virginia, the Subject Property is adjacent to the Clinch River. The Subject Property is improved with two adjoining structures that total 14,256-square-feet of building space. Constructed between 1929 and 1945, Building 1 predates Building 2 and was historically used as a movie theater. The Subject Property was used as the Cardinal Bowling Alley and Cardinal Restaurant in the 1960s, when Building 2 was constructed. Following closure of the bowling alley in the 1970s, Deskins Grocery, which operated across the street, acquired the Subject Property for use as storage and a garage through the 1990s. Deskins Grocery went bankrupt in 1999, and the Subject Property was sold at auction. Huckleberry Belting, a mine belt distributer, acquired the Subject Property in 2010. By 2016, the Town of Tazewell acquired the Subject Property, and the buildings have sat vacant/unoccupied since then. Other historic structures and uses of the Subject Property include a dwelling, post office, and slaughterhouse.
