U.S. EPA tasked START under contract 68-HE-0519-D0005, Task Order Line Item No. F0107-0001DA103 to support the City of Chicago, Department of Assets, Information and Services (AIS) with a Targeted Brownfields Assessment. The City of Chicago, AIS has identified this property as part of the INVEST South/West corridor, part of an environmental justice community. The environmental assessment findings will be used to determine how to proceed in the redevelopment of the property. "1950 and 1975: A filling station with three gas tanks is depicted on the Property. This is an environmental concern that requires additional assessment.�
" 1950, 1975: A gas station is depicted on the north adjacent property at 1400 W Garfield Blvd., located approximately 200 feet across W Garfield Blvd. This is an environmental concern that requires additional assessment.�? ?Two associated addresses for the Property,�?1405 W Garfield Blvd and 5500 S Loomis Blvd,�are listed in the CDPH Complaints, Inspections, and Tanks databases forpermits, installation, inspection, and replacements of non-heating oil USTs related to operation as an Amoco Oil gas station from at least 1948-1983. These addresses are also listed in the EDR Hist Auto database for the years 1961, 1970, and 1981 under the names Slemp Stanley, Gailey Standard Serve, Standard Oil, and Bennie Super Standard. This is an environmental concern that requires additional assessment. "1400 W Garfield Blvd:�Adjacent to the north of the Property, approximately 200 feet across W Garfield Blvd, Carl Gabrel is listed in the CDPH database for the permits, installation, inspection, and replacements of non-heating oil USTs related to operation as a gas station from at least 1948-1975. This is an environmental concern that requires additional assessment.
