U.S. EPA tasked START under contract 68-HE-0519-D0005, Task Order Line Item No. F0107-0001DA103 to support the City of Chicago, Department of Assets, Information and Services (AIS) with a Targeted Brownfields Assessment. The City of Chicago, AIS has identified this property as part of the INVEST South/West corridor, part of an environmental justice community. The environmental assessment findings will be used to determine how to proceed in the redevelopment of the property. 1950, 1975, 1988, 1991, 1993: 1145 W Garfield Blvd--A combination lock factory is depicted adjacent to the west of the Property. This is an environmental concern that requires additional assessment. The Property, under the address 1139-1143 W Garfield Blvd, is listed as Catz Cleaners and Dyers in the EDR Hist Cleaner database from 1970 to 1977. This is an environmental concern that requires additional assessment. The Property is listed as S & S Tire Co in 1928 and 1931; and La Ray Beauty Shoppe in 1941. This is an environmental concern that requires additional assessment. Associated address 1139 W Garfield Blvd, is listed as Catz Cleaning & Dying Shop in 1928, 1931, and 1941. This is an environmental concern that requires additional assessment. Associated address 1143 W Garfield Blvd, is listed as S & S Tire Co in 1928; Katz Cleaning & Dyeing Shop in 1961, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, and 1994; Courtesy Cleaners & Furriers in 1966; and Catz Cleaning & Tailoring Shop/Catz Clng & Tayloring Shop in 1941, 1981, 1986, and 1994.
