Additional Property Attributes

EPA conducted a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment at the property. Surface and subsurface soil samples and groundwater sampels were collected to determine whether a relase of hazardous substances associates with past site activities occurred and impacted the site. Concentrations of metals such as aluminum, arsenic, and iron were detected in surface and subsurface soil sampes in exceedence of the MDE Residential Cleanup Standard. Concentrations of PAHs in surface soil samples exceeded the MDE residential and non-residential soil standards. PAHs were detected in groundwater samples above the cleanup standard for Type I and II Aquifers.

The subject property is currently owned by the Town of Berlin to store supplies, parts, and equipment. The Property was formerly operated as a poulty processing plant with its own onsite wastewater treatement plant discharging into an adjacent lagoon.
