Additional Property Attributes

DEQ is not the developer of the property. The City of Lewiston has a "buy-sell" agreement with the bankruptcy trustee for the property. The City has yet to take over the property. DEQ helped with the cleanup for excavation/disposal cost. (PPF - Brewery Flats, 12-12-06) The City of Lewistown recently submitted a voluntary cleanup plan to DEQ for review. The City acquired money through a Montana Department of Natural Resources Grant and DEQ is designating funds from its 128 grant toward cleanup of the sites. After cleanup, the City will acquire the property and plans to develop a walking trail that will connect in with the City's current trail system. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks completed stream channel restoration contiguous to the facility. It is now managed by the City and includes hiking trails and numerous fishing access points.

Former Use: The site was used a railroad switching yard and roundhouse service facility. Mr. George Berg was the previous owner until he filed for bankruptcy.
