The Former Sacred Heart Hospital Site is located in Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland. The site includes 23 parcels (combined acreage 1.5). Twenty two parcels are for proposed residential use and one is for proposed open space. The Site recently was reacquired by the city of Cumberland in June 2022 as part of the planned redevelopment. Historically the site was used by the Sacred Heart Hospital from about 1911 to 1967. Currently the site is undeveloped after the former building demolition was completed in 1995. A portion of the former Sacred Heart Hospital that adjoins the site was redeveloped in 2005, which initiated significant environmental investigation activities. The goals for the site are redevelopment into 22 townhomes and setting aside a half-acre block to remain undeveloped open space consisting of a steep slope that will remain forested.
