Additional Property Attributes

Improved with a two-story structure built in 1926, the Subject Property was first used as the "Farmville Colored School," which was renamed "Robert Russa Moton High School" in 1931. The site became the "Mary E. Branch School" in 1939 and operated as a school until the building was used as a recreation center in the 1980s and 1990s. The former school is currently unoccupied and in derelict condition. A suspected out of service heating oil UST may be present at the site, and the operation of a service station on an adjoining, upgradient area between at least 1948 to the early 1970s was also identified as a REC.
