Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Kealakehe Transfer Station includes a residential solid waste collection "Convenience Center" and resource recovery collection facilities for abandoned vehicles, scrap metal, and green wasate. The facility consists of three truck containers used for waste transfer activities, modular office buildings, and various concrete pads and access roads. Prior to the construction of the Queen Kaahumanu Highway, the site was undeveloped and accessible by the Old Mamaloha Trail. The site became the landfill for neighboring Kona in the 1960s. The landfill on the subject property has been closed for over ten years. The waste transfer station has been active since the closing of the landfill on the subject property.
