Additional Property Attributes

The 1.44-acre Site is located between Bowser and Holton Avenues and is currently vacant. It once was developed with seven buildings including a factory, a machine shop, multiple warehouses, a crate shop, and a staging shed that were a part of the former Bowser Company manufacturing facility. The Site was once part of a larger 13.5-acre property on which the Bowser Company operated. The Bowser Company developed and manufactured oil and gasoline pumps, underground storage tanks (USTs) and aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) and household appliances between 1885 and 1950s. Wayne Warehousing & Cartage, Inc. began operating on the Site prior to 1963 and the Site was later used for an automotive salvage operation. In 1994, Fort Wayne Recycling began operating as a tire recycler on the northern portion of the larger property. Fort Wayne Recycling violated conditions of their tire recycling permit on several occasions which initiated legal action and subsequent order to remove the tires.
