Additional Property Attributes

The site is an abandoned industrial property. The property was in receivership and the City of Middletown acquired ownership 8/25/2009. The city intends to redevelop the property. However, it is unknown whether the building will be renovated or demolished.

Former Use: The Subject Property was initially built as the Ohio Paper Bag Co. and later became the Advance Paper Bag Co. There are two main buildings on the Property connected by a smaller central connector building. Each building contains 3 floors and a basement. The northern building is the oldest, and records indicate it was built in 1895. Additions to the building were added until its current size was reached in 1912. The northern building and central connector building have wood floors throughout. The southern building has concrete flooring throughout. It is unknown when the Advance Paper Bag Co. ceased opertations, but the Water Refining Co. Inc is listed in city directory from 1965 to 1985. Ecowater Industrial Systems is listed in the directory in 1990 and 1994. From 1993 to 2002 Orman Enterprises, Inc. owned the property. During this time multiple tenants occupied the building including: Meloy Chemical, Ziegler�s Bolt & Nut House, Virtual Solutions & Assemblies, Uniquely Yours Creations, Korean Ginseng Import Co., Easterly Communications, D & A Affordable Office Furniture, and Tropical Illusions Tanning. Currently, the building is in general disrepair, as it has been abandoned since 2004. The city of Middletown took ownership of the building in August of 2009 through foreclosure.
