Additional Property Attributes

An initial Phase I was conducted in 2006. This site was formerly a Sinclair gas station and is currently the location of Big B Auto Sales. Six USTs appear to be still present on site, filled with water. A hydraulic lift is also present. Several drain pipes emerging from a concrete retaining wall empty into a drainage ditch on the west side of the property. Staining is present on the retaining wall beneath the pipes, indicating that contamination may be present in the ditch. The presence of the USTs, hydraulic lift, potential contamination of the drainage ditch and lack of past sampling data warrant a Phase II assessment.

A Phase I/II was conducted in 2009. The Phase I update identified the following recognized environmental conditions: 1) Two waste oil underground storage tanks (USTs) are located on the northeast portion of the site. 2) A hydraulic lift is located inside the site building. 3) Three USTs formerly containing gasoline are located in the southeast corner of the site. None of the USTs appear to be properly closed.

The Phase II Assessment consisted of two borings, BB-1 and BB-2. More borings were proposed but unable to be completed due to site constraints, such as the presence of USTs and derelict cars. No contaminants exceeding applicable risk based target levels were identified in soil samples. However, excessive lead was detected in the groundwater sample.
