Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The site comprises of four parcels zoned for heavy and light manufacturing and is owned by Mr. Charles Wornom who purchased the property from Mr. T.H. Wilson in 1972. Current uses include a warehouse building that has been converted into individual storage units, an outdoor storage area for empty construction dumpsters, a car repair shop, storage and maintenance of construction machinery and a tow lot. The site was formerly occupied by a feed, grain and coal supply company. The past and current uses plus the overall condition of the site lead staff to determine there is high potential for contamination of hazardous and petroleum materials in the soil and groundwater. The site is also adjacent to a tidal creek that often floods onto the site and there is concern for potentially negative impacts to the existing wetlands vegetation.
