Additional Property Attributes

The County continued to attempt to sell the property "as is" at County tax sales with no success. The Asbestos report provided enough information for contractors to determine the costs to rehab parts of the buildings. Currently, the Dubois County Development Corporation is planning to work with the County to purchase the property and rehab the building to use as a business incubator. Meetings are ongoing.

Former Use: The Property is currently owned by Dubois County and consists of an unoccupied manufacturing facility. The Property consists of an approximate 4.45-acre lot with four buildings totaling approximately 170,766 square feet. Several 55-gallon drums and small containers that appeared to contain hazardous substances were observed on the first floor of the southeast portion of the main building. Some of the drums were in poor condition and leaking was observed near the base of the drums onto the concrete floor. Dark staining was observed on several areas of the concrete floor. Red staining near a stockpile of coal was observed at the southeast exterior wall of the main building. The Property appeared to operate as a wood product manufacturing facility since at least 1924.
