Additional Property Attributes

Former middle and high school in Dillonvale with asbestos contamination. Property is vacant and the city would like to demolish the "attractive nusiance" to develop greenspace in the form of a village park. 5/1/2010 asbestos removed, building demolished, property graded and seeded with grasses.

Former Use: In 1907 the property was developed for the local school district with a single story - building. In 1921 another building was constructed directly behind the original to accommodate the increase in student population Building 2. In 1924 a fire destroyed the original 1907 building and the following year a new facility was built in its place Building 1. In order to construct a larger facility the local bank was physically moved to the rear of the property and was used by the schools for Industrial Arts courses. The bank building is still on site and will not be included as part of the project scope of work. The village intends to re-use the bank building for other purposes. All buildings were vacant at the project start date.
