Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The property was formerly operated as a Municipal Light Plant for the generation of electricity. The light plant utilized coal fired boilers to produce steam to drive turbines to produce electricity. The light plant ceased operation in 1949. During the 1950s the building was remodeled the steam generating boilers and turbines were removed and the building was retrofitted for office space. The Peabody Municipal Light Company discontinued use of the offices in August 1989. The building was subsequently occupied by City of Peabody School Administration as offices. The building is currently vacant.
