Additional Property Attributes

The Transit Village Core site is a vacant lot where lead, arsenic, and mercury were identified as metals of potential concern during a 1999 environmental assessment. The TSI is being performed to determine whether historical environmental activities resulted in hazardous conditions that need further evaluation. The site is being considered for light industrial land use with potential transit-oriented developments. Soil analyses concluded that arsenic concentrations exceeded the Southern California upper-bound background concentration of 12 mg/kg and therefore needs to be addressed before redevelopment. It was recommended that areas of impacted soil left on site be covered with barriers; if soil removal is not performed, a deed restriction on these areas should be placed.

Former Use: The site was used by the railroad company as a maintenance yard in the 1960-1970s; it may also have been used by electric rail cars.
