Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The subject property was first developed with the Paradise Club on Parcel A of the subject property along Paradise Lake in 1928. Photographs from The Idlewild Community Black Eden, depict one gasoline pump beneath the awning on the southern end of the Club, although specific information was not available. The Paradise Club was expanded and converted into a Nightclub in 1948 and continued to operate in this capacity through the mid-1960s. The Paradise Nightclub was likely vacated in the 1970s, and the structure was razed in the 1980s, and Parcel A has remained vacant since that time. Parcels B and C have consisted of vegetated land since at least 1938. Parcel D of the subject property was first developed with the Paradise Hotel in 1929, which was later named the Heartbreak Hotel. The hotel operated from that time through 1964 when it was vacated. During its operation, the hotel also operated a photography studio in the front room of the building according to The Idlewild Community Black Eden. AKT Peerless was unable to determine whether the photography studio developed pictures on-site. Therefore, based on the likely use of a former septic system, the potential exists for photo development chemicals to have been released to the subject propertys soil or groundwater. Parcel E of the subject property consisted of undeveloped land until 1948 when the existing subject building was constructed as a grocery store. Photographs from The Idlewild Community Black Eden, depict two gasoline pumps immediately south of the building in 1948. AKT Peerless was unable to determine specific information about the former pumps and/or removal of the USTs during the Phase I ESA. The store likely operated through the 1960s prior to being vacated. The subject building remained vacant until 2009 when it was remodeled into a community meeting room for potlucks and card games.
