Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The subject property consists of one 1 parcel containing 0.03 acres and located north of East Grand River Avenue. The property is occupied by a two 2 story 2,424-square foot building which was originally constructed in 1915. The building contains a basement, an office area, common areas, a kitchen area, and bathrooms. The subject building occupies the entire parcel, with the exception of a two 2 foot wide asphalt paved area located north of the building. The property is currently vacant of occupants. Standard and other historical sources were able to document that a stable was present on the southern portion of the subject property in at least 1885 and was demolished between 1885 and 1892. The property contained vacant land from at least 1892 until the current building was constructed in 1915 as a public rest room for the east adjoining rail line. The property was occupied by the North Side Rest Rooms from initial construction until at least 1955. Additionally, the property was occupied by the North Side Commercial Club from at least 1919 until 1965, an office for the city gas inspector from at least 1935 until 1965, and the North Side Community Hall from at least 1945 until 1965. The property was then either vacant or occupied by the North Lansing Community Organization from at least 1970 until 2001. The property has been vacant of occupants since at least 2004.
