Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The property was formerly operated as a leather factory, but is currently vacant. The site has three RTNs that have been linked under one mother RTN 3-24618. EPA conducted a removal action in 1998 to remove and dispose of manufacturing wastes drums, leather scraps, tannery solids, soils contaminated with heavy metals left behind when the facility closed. Between 2001 and 2005 the City of Salem conducted various environmental investigations and identfied a release of No. 6 fuel oil during the removal of a 20,000 gallon UST. LNAPL was identified in an adjacent monitoring well indicating that groundwater was impacted by the release from the tank. In 2006, LNAPL was identifed in a second monitoring adjacent to a 6,000- gallon mineral oil UST.
