Additional Property Attributes

Property is a former was a former slag dump, however it represents an extension of the very successful Summerset at Frick Park housing redevelopment. The URA of Pittsburgh together with a private developer converted the adjacent slag sites into 200 units of housing that is now fully occupied. This 22 acres will extend that housing development. A Tax Increment Financing Plan has been approved for a total of $24 million. Remediation should take place next year (2016).

Former Use: From the 1920's until l970's, the site was used to dispose of slag from steel mills along the Monongahela River. The Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh purchased the site in l995. The site is currently fenced off and vacant.
