Additional Property Attributes

"The Phase II ESA Addendum found lead in the soil and groundwater at the site, primarily in the vicinity of the former UST pit. VOCs found in an earlier investigation at the site were delineated by this addendum and found to be confined to the immediate tank pit area. Per the MOU between DNR and the City of St. Louis, the drinking water pathway at the site is incomplete. The anticipated future use of the site is a parking lot. As the area is to be capped, the only exposure to lead in the soil may be during the construction of the lot. As such, the future dermal/ingestion pathways due to lead particulates in the soil are deemed to be incomplete. This site began remediation under the Departments Petroleum Storage Tank section as part of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. As the site is currently seeking closure through the Tanks Section, the BVCP recommends submitting a copy of the Phase II Addendum report to the Tanks Section for their review and comment."

Former Use: This 0.237 acre site is a former gas and automotive repair station, with the first two underground storage tanks (USTs) installed in 1924 and a third installed in 1930. This site remained a station until it was vacated in 1990. The USTs were removed in 2010 with funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Petroleum contamination remained in the soil after UST removal. The future planned use of this site is a parking lot for the adjacent Shreve Engine Rebuilding.
