The site totals approximately 7.1 acres. The site is currently vacant. Building pads and concrete vaults that were associated with the former Scholtz Tannery facility remain onsite.

Former Use: Based on the records reviewed for the Phase I ESA, the site was the Scholtz Tannery from 1901 until the plant closed in the late 1980�s. The site is currently vacant. Building pads and concrete vaults that were associated with the former Scholtz Tannery facility remain onsite. Chemicals typically associated with tannery operations may include pentachlorophenol, chromium, sulfides, and cyanides. Previous investigations noted TPH-EPH, chromium, BTEX, ammonia, and lead above detection levels. Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) required soil excavation in two areas with lead contamination. No other remediation has been required to date.
