Additional Property Attributes

The Ashfield House is an affordable housing development owned by Ashfield House LLC c/o Rural Development, Inc. The property has a multi-family residential building, and is located in the village center adjacent to commercial and residential uses and abuts the South River. Ashfield House LLC sought this assessment to support its proposal to provide project-based housing vouchers for the building that would allow additional access to affordable housing by area residents.

Former Use: Ashfield House was constructed in 1830 as stagecoach stop and inn. The building was a operated as a hotel until 1944, and was then converted to a rest home. In the 1980s, the building was converted to apartments. The current owner purchased the property in 2004.
