KDHE conducted a Phase I Brownfields Targeted Assessment (BTA) at the Quivira Heights housing development site located in Lyons, Kansas. The BTA was conducted for the City of Lyons to evaluate a 5.38 acre area that is proposed for redevelopment as a moderate-income housing development. The area encompasses 10 different properties. All 10 properties were included and evaluated in the Phase I report. Each property has been assigned a unique KDHE project code for tracking purposes. Based on the Phase I report, no �Recognized Environmental Conditions� (RECs) were identified expect for the site being located within the Lyons Chloride groundwater contamination plume. However, the Lyons Chloride area is currently and will continue to be addressed through a State regulated program. Therefore, further investigation is not warranted and the property is cleared for redevelopment.
