Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The subject property was originally developed prior to 1938 with a commercial structure. AKT Peerless was unable to determine the use of the subject property from that time until the 1950s when it was a known gasoline service station. The subject property operated as a gasoline service station with two service bays in the northern portion of the building. According to interviews, each of these bays contained one hydraulic hoist. The subject property utilized two pump islands located east and southeast of the building from that time until 1986 when the station was abandoned. In addition, several ASTs were reportedly located west of the subject building during that time. Home Oil Company, the last service station operator, gifted the subject property to Lake County in 1986. Lake County contracted Meyer Equipment in Paris, Michigan to remove all USTs from the subject property. In July 1986, Meyer Equipment removed eight USTs from the subject property. The USTs were reportedly located to the north and west of the subject building. The subject property was subsequently remodeled in the late 1980s or early 1990s and operated as the Lake County Chamber of Commerce and the MSU Extension Office until late 2012, when it was vacated.
