Additional Property Attributes

As a direct result of Phase II and cleanup planning, the Metroparks was able to perform asbestos abatement and demolition at the former county workhouse. With the workhouse demolished, this cleared the path to complete 2 restoration projects on the property.

Former Use: The property includes eight buildings including the former City of Toledo Workhouse from December 1918 until March 1991. The majority of the property is covered by agricultural land and also includes Nature's Nursery, a wildlife rehabilitation center, a seed nursery and other buildings used by Toledo Metroparks and the Lucas County Soil and Water Conservation District.
