Additional Property Attributes

The property consists of a two-acre parcel addressed 330 Quay St. and is developed with a two-story commercial building including a lower level basement. The subject property is currently used as a restaurant and is occupied by Quay Street Brewing Company. The property is situated between Quay Street and the Black River in downtown Port Huron. One building Material was detected with Asbestos at the site. The positive Asbestos detection was found in sealing caulk located on the chimney on the roof of the building. No recommendations were for further assessment were made at the completion of the Phase I ESA or Hazardous Materials Survey. The conclusion was made to manage the hazardous material as long as it is not being disturbed by renovations or demolition at this time.

Former Use: The site is located on the Black River in the down town district of Port Huron. The site has been used for several commercial purposes over the years. Specifically the site was occupied by a carpenter and then a flour mill from at least as early as 1871 to 1888. According to the maps Quay Street was also identified as River Street in the late 1800s. The mill is identified with the name Wellman�s. The subject property is listed as a wholesale grocer in an 1894 directory. From 1900 to 1915 the property was occupied by �Wellman and Son�s Flour and Feed Mill.� According to city directories the subject property was occupied by various commercial tenants including a tavern and a ferry company from the early 1920s to the late 1940s. The site was occupied by a Michigan state employment office from 1953 to 1973. The subject property was used as a cosmetology school from the early 1970s to the mid-1990s. According to historic assessor records Dagenais Davidson sold the subject property to Cherry Consortium, Inc. in April of 1996. Quay Street Brewing Company occupied the site since 1996 to the present.The property is currently owned by BluMoose Mgt. Group, LLC and is operating as a brewery and restaurant.
