The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) conducted a Phase I Brownfields Targeted Assessment (BTA) at 2734 Arnold Court in Salina, Saline County, Kansas. The BTA was conducted for the Salina Airport Authority who owns the property and plans to lease the building. Therefore, the Phase I assessment was necessary to fulfill the due diligence requirements prior to a property transaction. Based on the Phase I report, no �Recognized Environmental Conditions� (RECs) were identified on the property. The Phase I report did, however, identify a contaminant plume at the nearby Schilling AFB site, which has the potential to migrate overtime. Therefore, it is recommended that preventative measures (such as restricting groundwater use) are considered prior to future usage of the property in order to limit exposure to contaminated groundwater. A Phase II assessment is not recommended at this time and the property is cleared for redevelopment.

Former Use: 1954-2012 property had commercial structures as it does today, prior to 1954, area was greenspace with residential structures. The current property owner is the Salina Airport Authority who acquired the property in 1965 from the Smoky Hill/ Schilling Air force base.
