Additional Property Attributes

A local developer plans to renovate the commercial space on the first floor and residential space on the second floors. Approximately 200,000 will be invested into the property. The plan is to create a bar/live music venue with a New Orleans theme. There is a need for a live music venue in Lansing. Approximately 8 to 10 jobs will be created. The bakery will continue to operate in the 1218 building. A lot of history in this area. The vacant parcel was associated with a railroad, dry cleaners historically adjoining the property to the east and gas stations to the north.

Former Use: Based upon a review of historical information, a building existed on the Property from circa 1885, and functioned as a grocer around that time. A portion of the current building was constructed circa 1890 and has been occupied since then by residential space and a series of commercial enterprises. The original portion of the building which occupies 1214 Turner, built circa 1890, was replaced circa 1950 by a single story commercial space. In 2006 a residential space was added as a second story. The 1214 building has also been occupied since then by residential space and a series of commercial enterprises. The associated back-lot area has primarily sat devoid of any structure during its developed history, but has at times been occupied by a lumber yard, a storage shed, and a garage.
