Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The site is part of the historic Bixby Slough which was owned by the Palos Verdes Corporation at the time the City of Los Angeles purchased the property on March 30, 1945. The site is suspected to have been used for the disposal of industrial wastes and capped in the 1930s. There have been no written records or photo documentation found to provide details on the operation and closure of the landfill. There was a solid waste facility in proximity to the landfill called K & S Rubbish (SWIS #19-AR-5154) that was in operation at the time. The site has been kept in its natural state since the City purchased it and is part of the freshwater marsh area located south of the Machado Lake dam.
