Additional Property Attributes

The Property consists of approximately 0.15 acres developed with an approximately 71,825-square foot, 14-story commercial building originally constructed as a bank and commercial offices in 1931. Comerica Bank currently occupies four of the 14 floors. The remaining floors are vacant, with the exception of a legal services office and a computer technician occupying two floors. The building occupies the entirety of the parcel. Former Use: Based on review of historical information, five contiguous buildings, 101, 103 and 105 N. Washington Avenue, and 102 and 106 W. Michigan Avenue, were present on the Property in 1885. The buildings appeared to be used as a bank, drugstore, jewelry store, gentlemen?s furnishings, telegram offices, press office, book bindery, printing shop, restaurant, and various additional offices occupied by typewriter and adding machine companies, tax and assessing departments, real estate and insurance companies, as well as residential apartments. By 1931, the five former structures were replaced by the existing 14-story building originally constructed as the Bank of Lansing, which occupied the first four floors. From 1931 through the present, the building was occupied by banks, insurance and investment agencies, oil and petroleum transport companies (office space), hair shops, state departments, news and broadcasting companies, real estate agencies, law firms, optical and dental suppliers, lumber dealers, jewelry repair shops, a rubber company, hosiery company, and doctors and dentistry offices. The building is currently occupied by Comerica Bank, a computer technician, and a legal services office. The remaining floors are currently vacant.
