Additional Property Attributes

The Town of Stratton purchased this site, which was previously used as a mobile home park from 1993, from a private owner in July of 2005. After the Town took ownership, the mobile homes were removed and the entire block was cleared and left vacant. In 2008, the Town used the southwest corner of the block as the location of a much needed water tower. In 2014, The Stratton Area Foundation approached the Town about utilizing this site for a housing development via the USDA Farmworker housing grant and loan program. The Town agreed to donate the land to the Foundation for this purpose. The Stratton Area Foundation now plans to develop 12 single family homes on the Site which is referred to as the Harvest Heights Housing Development project.

Former Use: The majority of the Site is currently a vacant, grass-covered city block, with the exception of a dirt-covered alley/drive situated in a north/south direction in the middle of the property, and a Town-owned water tower/stand pipe for drinking water located at the southwest corner of the block. During the Site reconnaissance, the eastern half of the Site was utilized as a staging location for the Town of Stratton and their contractors for a limited time to store various equipment associated with replacing underground water pipes beneath the adjacent roadways. According to the Town, this construction activity began in November 2014 and will commence at the end of June 2015. CDHE did not observe any leaks and/or staining on the ground surface or any stressed vegetation on the Site during the Site reconnaissance. The Site was previously developed with a single-family residential structure since at least 1968, with the addition of mobile homes on the Site since at least 1988. The current owner of the Site, the Town of Stratton, purchased the Site in 2005 and began removing the mobile home structures from the Site. Based on review of aerial photographs, it appears that the single-family residential structure was demolished sometime between 2006 and 2009. In 2008, the Town of Stratton constructed the Towns water tower/stand pipe at the southwest corner of the Site. Surrounding properties have been mostly residential in nature since at least 1968
