The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) received and approved an application for BTA from the City of Overbrook with the desire to renovate the The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) conducted the BTA Phase I and Asbestos Survey reports for the above referenced property in Overbrook. Based on the Phase I report, �Recognized Environmental Conditions� (RECs) were not identified as potential releases of hazardous substances associated with the historical use of the property as a Junior High Middle School Gymnasium and current use of a portion of the building as a maintenance shop for the city of Overbrook. A Phase II assessment is not recommended. An Asbestos Building Survey was also conducted as an additional scope outside of the ASTM-E1527-13 Phase I assessment. Asbestos containing materials (ACM) were identified in the building and must be properly addressed prior to and/or during demolition/remodeling activities.

Former Use: The property address is 506 Ash Street in Overbrook, Kansas. The subject property is located on the east-central portion of Overbrook in a residential area. Surface topography across the property is relatively flat with a slope towards the northeast. Between 1889 and 1894 maps show property and surrounding areas as undeveloped/vacant land. In 1955 depicts a school on the property. In 1983-present, the maps shows the property as residential or unknown development to the north, east, and south similarly to the 1955 maps. The current/past owner is listed as the City of Overbrook.
