Additional Property Attributes

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) conducted a Phase I Brownfields Targeted Assessment (BTA) on 0.07 acres of property located at 7510 W. 80th Street in Overland Park, Johnson County, Kansas. The BTA was performed for a private entity, with support from the City of Overland Park, who intends to purchase the property and redevelop as an extension of their current adjoining-west commercial business. Based on the Phase I report, �Recognized Environmental Conditions� (RECs) were identified as potential hazardous substances and/ or petroleum products due to the historical use of the property as a dry cleaning facility; the west-adjoining site, Arnold�s Lawn Mower Repair (C4-046-73003), which has elevated VOCs and TPHs on the property and is currently being investigated through the KDHE Site Assessment Program; the-north adjacent property, which was historically used as an automotive repair facility and was a Small Quantity Generator for benzene, lead, and chromium; the east-adjacent property, which was historically used as a motorcycle sales and services center; and lastly, the southeast-adjacent property, which was historically used as a petroleum facility. Based on these identified RECs, a Phase II investigation is recommended, but will not be completed through the Brownfields Program at this time due to lack of access to the property.

Former Use: The site began operations as a dry cleaner between 1931 and 1950, and was most recently operated as Overland park Cleaners & Shirt Laundry which closed in September of 2015.
