Additional Property Attributes

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) received the application for KDHE to conduct a Brownfields Targeted Assessment (BTA) at the property located at 0 Jayhawk Road in Fort Scott, Kansas. The BTA was conducted for the City of Fort Scott, Department of Economic Development, who intends to assist the property owner in reusing for industrial purposes. The assessment was completed through the KDHE Coalition Assessment Grant (BF97741501) with petroleum substance funding. Based on the Phase I, completed in May 2016, no Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) were identified in connection with the property, and the property is cleared for redevelopment.

Former Use: The site has historically been undeveloped/agricultural land since at least 1884 and continuing to 2016; therefore no addresses were identified for the site. The current site owner is Lea Emory R. Arnold Trust, who obtained title on April 6, 2010 from Lea Emory R. Arnold. Additional owners of the site consist of various individuals.
